A brief description about the IELTS test:

The band requirement for Australia permanent residency:

In all four skills that is listening, reading, writing and speaking the minimum requirement is band 6. If you want to score points in this criteria then you have to get a score of 7 and more. It must be noted that Australia follows a point based system for permanent resident visas. The points are based on a number of different factors. English language proficiency is one very important factor. The candidate must try and score more number of points as better the points better are the chances of the application getting selected.

Score of 8 or more is considered as superior language proficiency and the candidate can get 20 points. Score of 7 is considered as proficient language levels and the candidate can get 10 points. The candidate is considered as competent in English language if he gets a score of 6 but with this score he will not get any points.

The validity of this test is two years from the date when the test was conducted.
